Sanchez strikes again

Sanchez the great

Arsenal 1 - 0 Southampton

Last night we saw a team who is skipping into form and with 3 wins on the bounce it is finally starting to look up.

Before we discuss the Arsenal we all have to tip our hats to Frasier Forster in the Southampton goal. A superb display by a very good goal keeper.

Moving on to the good points for Arsenal though, Giroud coming off the bench and immediately making an impact is very promising in my eyes. I have always been a fan of Giroud and he is my boys "superstar". Giroud is to Callum in the same way Bergkamp was to me, GOD! Seeing Giroud link up Danny Welbeck just puts a smile on my face. To have 2 strikers that can play together is so refreshing to see. Seeing as Southampton have become a bit of a force this year the victory is very different to the previous wins against them. Unbeaten in 19 League games against Southampton although we did suffer an early exit in the capital one cup this season to the hands of them. The result that always sticks in my mind was the 6 - 1 victory back in 2012 i believe. I was sat clock end and took a picture at the exact time Podolski's free kick drifted over the Southampton wall. It does show how far Southampton have become as team.

Arsenal looked sharp from the off and early on Santi Cazorla played Welbeck through and Forster ran down the run and the shot popped off just a little wide. The visitors also had their moments and a good give and go from Pelle and Davis put Pelle through but blazed his shot way over. We have all seen given the chance he would normally have that ball rippling the net. Same as the last two outings the pressing play from Arsenal forced the majority of the match to be played in the opponents half. We then were treated to a fantastic show of skill and trickery as Sanchez threw off his defender by looking the other opposite way before pinging over a pin point pass over to the left.

Chamberlain made a lot of nothing within their box and managed to get a shot away low but Forster was equal to it.

Arsenal and set pieces have not gone together for years. Whether they are conceding from them or not scoring from them it just not go Arsenals way. Seeing Cazorla send in a cross from a free kick just outside the box and Welbeck landing a strong header on an already pacey ball looked destined for goal. Again Forster throws one of those shovels of hands he has up to tip it over.

By this point i can only imagine Arsenal feel they are shooting at a brick wall. Giroud comes running on and makes an instant impact on the game. A long ball sent forward hammered home by Giroud was swatted away and shortly after he lays off a perfect ball to Welbeck who again is denied by the "super" Forster.  Eventually a ball came into the box and a HUGE shout for a penalty was waved on by the ref which allowed Ramsey to send a low cross in and Sanchez swept the ball into the back of the net. It took 88 minutes but a win is a win.

We cannot take it away from Southampton they are a very good team and have already shown they are a force to be reckoned with. Much to the dismay of Lallana, Lambert and Shaw. Not Chambers though as the next stage of the UCL is next for him.

It was the man Alexis Sanchez who was the man to bag the goal and with his current performances you have to put him as one of the best in the premiership. The man would chase a newspaper on a windy day. No ball is ever dead when it comes to Sanchez. I do not think i have a Thesaurus big enough to supply me with enough words to describe this guy. I am sure like everyone else i was very surprised we signed such a player that early in the transfer window. I think with the Wenger out brigade banging on still at the moment they must forget the club is now finally starting to buy class. We have so far signed Ozil, Sanchez, Welbeck and Chambers to name a few over the last 2 seasons. Best buys in the league as far as i am concerned.

I am dying for some feedback so please leave comments or even message me if you think i may have gone astray or even if you think i am wrong.

Next up is the Rugby Team Stoke away at the Britannia. Will be a difficult game but lets hope the performances do not dip. Will post again before the review and may take some time to try and make sense of the transfers this season.

Thanks again for reading..... Catch you soon
