I like Lukas Podolski. In fact i fucking love him..... We all know how that song goes. I could not think of a better personality in football. He comes across as a fun loving, smiley, cheerful fella with a rocket of a left foot on him. Great guy all in all.
Podolski joined Arsenal back in 2012 and looked forward to glitz and glam of London. Arsenal fans greeted him with open arms in his first appearnace for the gunners against his old club FC Koln. The crowd was singing "he scores when he wants, he scores when wants, LUKAS PODOLSKI!! He scores when he wants!" He has now taken over as top dog already with Van Persie becoming the whipping boy for his last game in Arsenal shirt. This was going to be the man that we will grow to adore and who will help us forget RVP who left later in that transfer window.
We have signed a German with over 100+ caps for his nation and looked to set the premier league on fire. To start with he was great scoring his first in a 2 nil win against Liverpool at Anfield. Then there was that Free kick against Southampton in the 6-1 win. Montpellier in the champions league, spurs at home during another 5-2 victory. We grew to love him more and more as time went on. Unfortunately 90 minutes was a rare thing for Lukas to come across. Constantly benched and second pickings behind Olivier Giroud who has become a player who is getting better with age.
Unrest was something that was bound to happen. He is a player who loves to play and he needs to play regular to keep that space in the German national team. Earlier this season he agreed a loan deal to join Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan and to say that his spell there so far has been successful would be an absolute lie. He is having an awful spell in Italy and has not impressed at all. To my knowledge he was also left out of the squad for the Europa knock out stages.
I don't think Inter Milan will grab him on a permanent
deal unless he can turn his form right around and start hammering home those goals. He will return back to Arsenal at the end of the season if no deal is in place and i really do struggle to see where he would fit back into the team? Welbeck and Giroud is a working partnership and with Sanchez given permission to roam free up top i cant see where ol'Pod will fit in. He is a good player and when he plays he tends to score but for some reason he has not been given a run in the squad as a centre forward.

Only time will tell but he is in charge of whatever happens to his career and his first worry should be banging in at least half a dozen goals before the end of the season. A striker who is not scoring is never wanted by anyone.
But i love him and i hope he breaks back into the Arsenal squad and we get to see that left foot hammer home those goals once again.
