Priorities

Wenger's biggest priority?

As we come up to the home run of the football season Arsenal have man united in the quarter finals of Fa Cup, Monaco in the last 16 of the champions league and not a hope in hell in winning the premier league.

The current form of the squad is very promising though and with Wilshere and Chamberlain coming back into the squad from injury we now have the depth that's needed. All 4 full backs are playing out of their skin to keep their places with Bellerin determined to stay ahead of chambers in the pickings. Gabriel will soon push Mertesaker out of the starting 11 if settles in nicely and with Giroud banging them in Welbeck also has to pull his socks up. So squad wise i think we are good.

Manchester united in the cup will work 2 ways, if we lose we cannot retain the silverware we waited so long to win and it will lower the confidence of the team. Or we will win convincingly and storm through to win the cup. I prefer the winning option.

Top 4 is still not guaranteed and there is a fair bit of competition for it this year with Southampton coming out of no where and united have this "lucky" streak, it will be the hardest time for Arsenal in years. Champions league qualification is a must when your a club as big as Arsenal. Whether its attracting new players, balancing the books or even competing for that trophy, it is a competition that cannot be missed. With Monaco as our opponents in the next round with the first leg being played this coming Wednesday, i am sure like all other Arsenal fans i feel confident we should overcome them.

Santi Cazorla
So that is whats is happening in the cups and leagues, however rumours of Santi Cazorla being tapped up by Atletico Madrid is a cause for concern. Now he has had a run in the centre of midfield his form has been sparkling and we could not handle another will he wont he transfer saga. I hope with Santi who has been an excellent player since joining negotiates a new deal and we seal another contract extension. I have also read some articles about Podolski rejoining the club after failing to impress in Italy. I would worry to wonder where he would fit into the team now especially with Akpon starting to make the odd appearance.

I never normally predict outcomes but if i was a betting man, (which i once was and Betfred employees probably paid for their Christmas do with my money) i would reckon that Arsenal would make AT LEAST the champions league semi finals and will retain the FA Cup. They will also finish third in the league.

Now take that statement how you like, i am optimistic and i think a good campaign in the champions league is long overdue and with Monaco as the first hurdle we should jump them on push on strong. I know i will be slated for coming up with those predictions but if i am right you would all fall off your chairs. (wanted to keep the language calm on this post)

Take care people enjoy the rest of your Friday and make sure you squeeze in a beer before the football. (take note of the below video fella's)
