Is Giroud the man to take us forward?

Giroud and Podolski |
If there was a player who is loved by some fans and hated by other it would be the beautiful Frenchman. Personally i have always the liked the guy since he signed for Arsenal. Took him a while to get his first goal and if i am being completely honest, the hole left by RVP was too big for him to fill. You could tell from the off that he was preferred over the other striker signed that during that transfer window Lukas Podolski which is either bad judgement by Wenger or he saw something no one else did. Podolski having 100+ caps for Germany and was the Talisman at FC Koln before moving to London would make you think he would be the main centre forward for Arsenal but as we all saw, this didn't happen.
Excellent finish against West Ham |
Giroud showed signs of excellence but also showed that he could be a right Donkey in several situations. One goal that sticks in my mind was the 3-1 win against West ham at the Emirates April last year. They way he took the ball down and fired it home between the goal keepers legs was just superb. The goal against Manchester City in the community shield was a blinder, the side footed finish against spurs at home last season was another cracker. He can come up with these goals and they are top drawer material.
Giroud putting Arsenal 1-0 against Spurs |
On the other hand he does have problems getting involved in some games, unfortunately for us they tend to be the bigger games. There is no argument that he is 10 times better now than when he first arrived from France, i cant even see how someone can argue that but he still hasn't "clicked" fully in the premier league.
When you watch Arsenal you can see all the ball is played in midfield which makes sense considering who we have playing in that area of the pitch. When Welbeck came into the squad i wasn't sure how he would be playing with another forward like Giroud. Rooney who he used to play with, would run mile upon mile and could play other people in, Giroud being the big burley type holds up play to allow the midfield to move in. I think give it time and that's a successful pairing. With the midfield playing how they are behind them it will become a deadly force.
But getting back to the frenchman i do wonder if he is good enough to be Arsenals main man. If you look at the small group of world class strikers in the world they are ALL game changers. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Messi, Ronaldo, Robben, Cavani, Aguero, Diego Costa, Suarez, Neymar and even at a push Van Persie. Giroud is not in that group of players, he is good but he is not that good. With current squad and Giroud leading the line are we ever going to get where Arsenal should be?
On a personal note i love him as a player but despise him as a man. Tall dark handsome and can pull off a daft haircut while all the time being my little boys hero. Not mentioning the other half who also has a soft spot for him.
I think he will get better and better and his scoring has come on very well. I believe we should stick with him and should he be lucky enough to have an injury free run during a season i think there will be 30+ goals from him.
He may not receive the golden boot this year but he did win Paddy Powers most attractive player award so its something to go on the mantle piece at least.
Again if you believe what i am saying is rubbish let me know, if you enjoy it share it and tell your mates.
Until next time take care
UP THE ARSE!!!
