Everyone loves a Statistic.

Are stats worth the paper they are written on?

@CoulingKnows 05/02/2015

I am seeing a growing trend among supporters on Twitter especially where everyone enjoys a good statistic. I do not mind reading the odd post but i am starting to feel that most of what is posted is utter bollocks.

When you are trying to prove a point these can come in handy but i feel they serve no use at all. The only things as supporters we need to be aware of is goals and clean sheets. If you don't concede you cannot lose and if you score more goals you win the match. The only exception is the team performances with and without certain players. As an Arsenal fan i saw a scary stat about Koscienly on sky sports a few weeks ago.
Koscielny Missing

I do not mind seeing things like this because we know how important certain players are and with that picture there it shows we do not need to worry about how many interceptions he makes in comparison with someone else. It is shocking to see in this instance that there is that much change when one player is missing, hopefully Gabriel can assist in making sure we don't dip that low again.

Everything is, and can be made bull shit by whoever is doing the comparison, I'm going to prove this to you.

Bellerin
Maybe my example is a bad one but you can make any player look better when in comparison with a another player who plays a different game/position. I still believe in players having bad days and players having excellent days. You could have 12 shots on target and not score a thing. That player who has 1 on target could score and the comparison wouldn't mean a thing. 1 player took his chance and scored the other player didn't. It is an excellent tool for fan boys to blow smoke up there idol's arse's and i don't mind giving it a read on occasion, but in all honesty stop trying to kid yourselves we all know its bullshit.

2 More sleeps until Spurs away!! "The wanky tottenham hotspur went to Rome to see the pope!"

Again criticism welcome, if you don't agree let me know and anything else you want to say just use the #CoulingKnows hashtag on twitter or batter up my Google+ page.

Next installment in a few days, thanks for reading.
