Arsenal have hit a new era and everyone best take note!

Saturday 31st October 2009. Arsenal V Spurs at the Emirates. North London Derby. Butterflies in the belly and we all think our line up is good enough to win this fixture. the starting 11 that day were as follows.

Almunia
Sagna
Gallas
Vermaelen
Clichy
Diaby
Fabregas
Song
Arshavin
Van Persie
Bendtner

Eboue, Ramsey and Eduardo all made second half appearances.

Now maybe using Tottenham is not helping my case as Arsenal did win that fixture 3-0 but even still. Look at that starting 11!? I would wet myself if i saw the names Arshavin and Bendtner starting up front with Almunia in goal. That was 6 years ago and that team made champions league qualification.

I was looking for a little nostalgia by looking through all my old Arsenal stuff and it is no wonder we went soo long with out any silverwear. Wenger made signings that kept up with UCL qualification to keep Arsenal in the money. It was not pleasant and it was also a fucking nightmare only celebrating winning against shitty teams like spurs. But if you have your head screwed on you can see what that has now done to the club with these Marquee signings being made and this seasons real title charge beckoning. Now im not saying this is acceptable to season ticket holders and everyone including myself who put our hands in our pockets to see this, im not saying that at all because i don't think it was. All im saying now is, i can see why and how it happened. That team in 2009 was not going to win anything but it was going to bring in the money to help the club progress to a new era. Several years ahead admitadely.

Now as Arsenal fans we do pay alot for everything, especially tickets. The emirates burrito is not that badly priced thinking about it and even the beer isnt that bad there but we now have a stable club. We do not have to worry about the financial fair play rules and nor do we have to keep changing manager because the owner is pissed off. We are a rare club that still has its strict traditions that the club enforces. Things such as the captain decides if the team wear long sleeve or short sleeve shirts (except flamini of course). Small things that keep the club "proper" in my eyes.

So let me name another squad that we all pinned our hopes on.

27th February 2011 - League Cup Final against Birmingham at Wembley.

Szczesny
Sagna
Djourou
Koscielny
Clichy
Song
Wilshire
Nasri (lesbian)
Rosicky
Arshavin
Van Persie

Bendtner and Chamhk both made second half appearances.

Im sure you can all remember we lost that fixture. Kos was new in and had terrible time that season, luckily since then he has got better and better and is now a fantastic player. On the bench we had the likes of Eboue, Squillaci and Almunia. Awful, just awful but at the time we pinned all our hopes on this less than average side. I still think the knock on Koscielny when they ran past to him to celebrate was wrong.

Now lets look at the positive point im trying to get at. This is arsenals line up against Liverpool at the Emirates last season.

David Ospina
Hector Bellerin
Per Mertesaker (world cup winner)
Laurent Koscienly
Nacho Monreal
Francis Coquelin
Santi Cazorla
Aaron ramsey
Mesut Ozil (world cup winner)
Alexis Sanchez
Olivier Giroud

Arsenal hammered the life out of Liverpool in this game and that line up is the sweetest thing iv seen in a long time compared to previous years. This is the new era and with the youth and grit we finally show, the dark days are over. Midfielders getting Coq blocked all over the fucking place!

Players left and some of them did hurt, RVP's move to Manchester united was the worst thing that could have happened at the time but with the current squad and Theo running rampant too it looks a 1000x better!! With Cech in goal too? Just raise your hands and rejoice! Not long until the start of the season and i couldnt be more excited!

Take care people!
