I came across the new Sky Sports advert with the legend that is Thierry Henry. Is the Barclays Premier league the best league in the world? Last season I would say no. Poor performances and a run away team early in the league due to other teams not performing. I didn't rate it at all.
When Manchester City won the league back in the 2011-2012 season, that went down to the last minute after a fantastic season. Memorable games, stand out players and a bucket load of goals. As an Arsenal fan it was a disappointing season but luckily it was the last trophy baron season for us.
The recent transfer windows have seen stars come and go. This year the league lost Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, 2 greats of the game. Drogba left too but that's second time round and with his scoring record against Arsenal I am happy to see him gone.
The season before we lost the superstar striker that pushed Liverpool right to contention for the league until that almighty slip by Gerrard. Luis Suarez. Love him or hate, that guy was superb. His goals against Norwich were just another class but once again a premier league team loses a player to a foreign team. Given the choice though would you have stayed to play with Henderson and Sterling or Neymar and Messi? No brainer.
A few diamonds have joined the premier league though. Sanchez being my stand out man. Di Maria, Diego Costa, Fabregas, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Falcao to name a few. Problem is some of them who were here last season have not delivered.
Costa is always injured and is a right horrible bastard too. This is when you wish Vieira or Roy Keane were still playing to slap him down to size. Yes Di Maria is a fantastic player scored a few half decent goals but he has just finished his first campaign at man united and he must be disappointed as it was a poor showing overall. Fabregas played well as we all knew he would and i forgot who Falcao is. Even though Chelsea now have him on loan this season! He must have an excellent agent.
If you go by the papers De Gea will leave and join the great real Madrid and Sergio Ramos will make his way to Manchester united who I think will be a threat this year with the calibre of player they are signing.
Manchester city have broken the bank to sign Sterling at 49 Million Pounds which to me is a massively inflated price but with the home grown player rule coming into UEFA you can understand why they wanted him. This just shows how ridiculous the transfer window has become.
As I am an Arsenal fan I should of course mention our top signing of the window so far, Petr Cech. Wenger has again pulled it out of his arse and won over the signature of another top top player. Our Team now consists of some world class players at last. Santi Cazorla, Ozil and of course Sanchez. Kos has to be up there with the best of them at the moment.
With all these big names either staying or coming into the premier league I am very optimistic we will have a very close and exciting coming up with Liverpool having another nightmare.
Who would you want to see join a premier league team this window? Tweet me at @Coulingknows or post on my Facebook page with your pick.
